Jeffrey Moose Gallery is proud to welcome sculptor Dick Strom and painter Sophie Frieda for our Spring exhibition, April and May 2026. Receptions will be held on First Friday, April 3rd and First Friday, May 1st from 6 to 8 PM. A Facebook Livestream will happen previous to the April event from roughly 5:20-5:40.

Dick Strom was born and raised in West Port Madison on Bainbridge Island, learning welding and metal working as a teenager. His family founded Modern Collision auto repair business in 1974. He attended High School on Bainbridge and then spent three years in the US Marine Corps. His sculptures and commissioned works have graced the Island for decades. Strom works both representationally and abstractly, creating fanciful animals and figures with the same ease as he creates abstract compositions from gears, wheels, chains and just about any type of scrap steel. Most often sited outside, Strom’s sculptures are quite comfortable both in landscape and in homes. Self taught and modest, he often demurs when called an artist.

Sophie Frieda, a classically trained painter of British origin, concentrates on plant life, some local and some tropical. She works primarily in oil on canvas, focusing tightly on foliage and flowers, creating intimate views from the perspective of a rabbit or bird. Her work is refined and precise, created with fine strokes and accurate color yet not cold and photographic. A sort of sympathetic realism thats immediately appealing. Her education includes a BA from Central St Martins college in London and another BA Honors Degree from California College of the Arts

In San Francisco. Her work has been shown at Bainbridge Arts and Crafts, BIMA, Bloedel Reserve as well as in local galleries and is held in collections in the UK, France, Australia, Washington state, California, Texas, D.C. and Connecticut.
